Plan a 2007 You Can Be Proud Of

The greatest year of my life is winding down and I’ve been thinking quite a bit about 2007 lately. Where will we be on December 20, 2007? What great things will happen with our businesses in the next year? What big breaks will come our way? What will we do with the quality time we spend with our spouses and families?

You all know me - I love to plan. I love to dream big. I love to make things happen. :)

So in true eMoms form, let’s plan together for a kick butt 2007, shall we?

First up, we need to start at the end:

  • What do I want to have accomplished by the end of 2007?
  • What would I have to believe about myself in order to know that I can succeed at this and more?
  • What are the values that I need to hold in order to keep myself motivated and focused during the entire year?
  • As I get in touch with with side of myself now, and as I work backwards, what are the milestones I will need to achieve in order to get me there from here?

Secondly, let’s get some goals in place. Goals can best be reached when using the S.M.A.R.T. system:

S = Simple and specific

M = Measurable and Meaningful to you

A = Achievable and in All areas of your life

R = Realistic and Responsible

T = Timed and Toward what you want

Thirdly, we need to have a plan in place to overcome the potential obstacles we may encounter on our way to success.

The best way for me to explain this to you is to show you how I am doing it for my own business:

  1. I will get uncomfortable and make public my ’stretch’ dreams/goals, which include speaking at BlogHer in Chicago, running a few motivational live events, obtaining my NLP Master Practitioner certification with Tad James in LA, and landing a book deal.

    Why? Because we don’t grow unless we get outside of our comfort zone and push ourselves beyond what we are currently capable of.

  2. I am on the hunt for my own business coach, who I want to start working with by the end of January 2007.

    Why? Because I know that finding a mentor is the fastest and most reliable way I will achieve the rest of my goals this year.

  3. I am going to continue to participate in and run Mastermind Groups throughout the year.

    Why? Because having the accountability and group momentum has propelled me much farther than I ever could have gone on my own in 2006.

  4. I will host and plan get togethers with my circle of friends every month.

    Why? Because my peer group is talented, ambitious, accomplished and fun. I choose my friends carefully because I know we will influence each others’ success!

  5. I will continue to grow my business via blogging and mindful marketing, putting my 2006 successes and mistakes to work for me.

    Why? Because the lessons learned this year are now my greatest assets :: especially the ones learned the hard way!

  6. I will continue to consistently take care of myself by seeking out Ah-Ha moments, following my heart, mindfully maintaining a positive attitude, and commiting to work life balance.

    Why? Because I know that I can’t take care of anyone else unless I ensure I take care of myself.

Lastly, I’m going to end 2006 with a bang with an attitude of gratitude. I would like to thank the many people who helped make this year the best of my life:

  • My husband, for conquering alcoholism and becoming the man of my dreams
  • My children, for their consistent love, belief in me, and giggles at all hours of the day and night
  • My friends and family, who inspire me to raise my own standards every day
  • My blog readers, whose comments and encouragement are the best motivator I could possibly be blessed to have
  • My coaches and teachers, for the priceless wisdom they shared
  • The blogosphere, which I enjoy being a part of every day :)
