How to Dangerously Inflate Your Ego Via Blogging

For those of you who might be feeling down today and want to feel better about your blogging persona, here’s how to inflate your ego with your blog to dangerous levels in 7 simple steps:

  1. Write a Kick A$$ post
  2. Send it persistently to an A-List blogger until he posts it
  3. Watch your traffic stats gleefully
  4. Write some more Kick A$$ posts
  5. Allow your traffic stats to go to your head
  6. Get a few comments from Internet Greats
  7. Watch as totally untrue but uber-flattering rumors arise about your success

Then, because I am a responsible blogger and don’t want to send you off into baloon-head land without a plan to return to earth, here is how to safely deflate your blogging ego in only 2 simple steps

  1. Write a post reminding oneself and everyone else I’m just a blogging mamma that that doesn’t have all of the blogging answers… and certainly not the ones that would enable my blog to make over a million dollars a year in ad revenue (but Ned, you absolutely made my day thinking that I do!!) :)
  2. Send the post to one of Darren’s Group Writing Projects to share the wisdom accordingly

Wendy, I’m smiling all over my face — it’’s pleasing on so many levels. The scope of your links. The thrill of seeing that you’ve been getting over 40 million visitors a day (and who’d blame you if it DID actually go to your head) :) . And for just a minute, Ned’s version of your revenue MUST have given you a chill. It did me….

I love it. Good job!

$1 million in Ad Revenue would be incredible!

Maybe it hasn’t happened yet, but don’t rule it out. :)

I love the traffic, too, but haven’t had enough of it (or money) yet to make my head swell too much. But, just give me time!

not one minute before reading your post. I guess it must be in the air.

I am holding tight to the vision that you are bringing in $1M per year. Then you can really finish your home office!

eMom you rock.
I just got going on my blog and I am as excited as a 4 year old at a mini golf course. I found you through the Problogger Writing Project. I entered one of my first blog posts. What makes you so facinating for me is that my wife is a stay at home emom. She runs an online book business that has seen double digit growth every year since she started it (2002). We have a 1 (almost 2) year old and a 4 year old. I showed your blog to Chris (my wife) tonight and she was interested - and that is saying something - because most nights I couldn’t draw her away from her business with a carmel frappaccino, a signature bar, and a bottle of Santa Margarhita (well the bottle of Santa Margarhita always works). Anyway, we hope to be part of this community, and I am looking forward to reading more of your blog.

Steve - didn’t you read the post?? I’m trying to deflate my ego, and your comment isn’t helping the cause!! ;)

Of course you and your wife are warmly welcome in this community! And Chris sounds like a woman after my own heart (though I’m a Pinot Grigio kind of gal myself!).

Please feel free to drop by and ask questions as you get your blog up and running. I’m also about to put out a free 10 Days to a Better Blog email series in the next day or two - sign up for it! :)

Hey Northern Girl - I know you haven’t paid anything to read my blog, but since I am ‘raking in millions’ of dollars, I should be able to throw $100 smackers your way just because I’m a nice blogging mamma!

Tee hee ;)
