Freelance Advice from the Blogosphere, Part 5

It’s Friday, which means I’m going to let some other folks do the heavy lifting around here.  I’ve sorted through my feed reader, and here are some of the posts I’ve found this week that I thought really had something good to say to the folks at Freelance Parent.  It’s so hard to narrow down the hundreds of articles posted every week, but this gives us sort of a nice smattering of topics to consider over the weekend.  If you have any comments to add, please let us hear about it . . . or you can always comment directly on the blogs.  People love that.  (hint, hint!)

  • Laura at Work at Home Momma pretty much wrote a nice, positive sequel to our “Ten Reasons Businesses Fail” post when she shared her ideas for how “Your Small Business Can Succeed.”  The glass really is half-full, isn’t it, Laura?
  • As time goes by, I’d really like to be able to focus on ways to help ensure that we get the freelance jobs we want.  This week, Freelance Folder gave us a heads-up on the flip side with Jon’s post on “25 Reasons You Didn’t Get the Gig.”  Hmm . . . I think the glass just got half-empty again. ;-)
  • Amanda of Ghostwriting Uncovered has some really simple, yet extremely important suggestions for being a better writer.  Check out “Four Ways to Immediately Improve Your Writing.”  Then take her advice!  Oh, for more suggestions—this time with an automotive metaphor thrown in for good measure, take a look at Joanna’s “Kings of the Writing Road:  Can You Help?” on Confident Writing.
  • I think every freelancer should subscribe to Freelance Freedom.  It pretty much always makes me laugh.  It’s funny ‘cause it’s true.
  • Do you find yourself stumped for how to begin writing a piece?  Freelance Switch has some useful suggestions for “Beating ‘White Screen’ Syndrome.”  I think we all get stuck from time to time, so here are some actual methods you can use to get “unstuck.”  Dave Navarro of Freelance Folder has a few suggestions of his own with “Seven Can’t-Miss Ways to Kick-Start the Writing Habit.”

Thanks for linking to me! Yes, the glass is half full. I really do believe that attitude and perseverance are key components to business success. Many wouldl-be entrepreneurs quit at the first difficult challenge.
