Learn Affiliate Marketing from Rosalind Gardner :: |
I have to say that I really enjoyed getting to know Kris from PepperJam. Ironically enough, Kris played a HUGE role in both the start of this site AND in my getting to Elite Retreat in the first place.
Back when I used to run the Socrates.com affiliate program, I spied on the top affiliates in the CJ system to understand exactly what it was that was making them successful. I saw what Kris had done on his affiliate sites with the early incarnations of PepperJam Marketing, and realized I was SO on the wrong side of the money equation! That’s why I decided to start eSelfHelp, and then this site was born out of that… yada, yada, I’m here today.
But it was also Kris’ blog post last week that led me to enter the Elite Retreat contest. So I give him at least a little credit for the fact that I am sitting here right now in San Francisco, in the company of superstars with renewed excitement about making real money on the internet.
Kris has made more than 6 figures a month in the past selling other people’s products online. Now he has started the fastest growing internet marketing company on the planet. He certainly knows a thing or two about affiliate marketing, and he put together a step by step presentation to talk us through exactly what to do.
He talked about using Google AdWords and direct-linking to merchants with affiliate links (which I didn’t even think you could do, but you can). He walked us through how he made a small fortune promoting Ugg Boots last year (to the tune of $15K a month based on less than an hour of setup time).
He also talked about some advanced stuff that was a bit beyond what I am currently capable of, like building custom sites with a product feed and an API (don’t ask, because I don’t remember what it all means right now!). But to understand the whole scope of what is possible with affiliate marketing was both fascinating and inspiring, because it reminded me that there are some massive opportunities for income on the internet. This is what I’m most excited to work on now that this blog is so well established.
Kris’ most highly recommended tools:
PepperJam Blog (of course )
I’m actually about to sit down with each of these presenters one on one to talk with them more specifically about eMoms and other ideas I’ve had brewing for months. So once I get a little more time to talk to Kris, I’m sure I’ll be writing a LOT more about this topic in the future.
And sadly, Kris didn’t blog his own presentation. But he should have, because it was phenomenal. But keep an eye on his site for the Guy Kawasaki Elite Retreat finale, which was completely flipping awesome!
“it reminded me that there are some massive opportunities for income on the internet. This is what I’m most excited to work on now that this blog is so well established.”
…This is something we can only aspire and apply to achieve.
Thanks for all the live tips Wendy. I really don’t know how you made such cohesive, understandable posts while “listening” to the speakers…but, really glad you did!
Enjoy the rest of the networking and mentoring!
These look like awesome resources, Wendy. Thanks to you and Kris!
I agree with Edward Mills, I’m about to dig into these tools you’ve just listed here.
P.S. I believe I will be attending Darren’s meet up in New York, we should talk about that when you get back. Give me some inside info; like does he like to be hugged when you meet him? I never meet a real Australian before. =)
Thanks for the play by play Wendy, taking the time to help the rest of us benefit from this awesome event is really cool!
ROFL Alex! It’s 3:00 am and I’m stuck in the Seattle airport for another couple of hours until I can get on my flight back to Chicago.
But to answer your question, I hugged Darren when I first met him - but I’m a girl. I might be able to get away with a little bit more than you (ohhhhhh… I can just imagine your snarky response to THAT one!! )
Thanks for posting about it Wendy.
Sounds like you really enjoyed it, which is great.
I’ll have a look at those links when I’ve some time on my hands.
Bye for now!
Thanks for the entire Elite Retreat series. It’s given me a lot to think about. I’ve been dying to learn from each of the presenters. This is the next best thing.
No Wendy, I think I’m actually going to let the comment slide, i’m in good spirits today.
Just wanted to say thanks for your time.
Great idea! I am going to do some more research right now.
I would love to be able to contribute some of my talent to your website. I was impressed with your background.
Oh, and I found through problogger.net.
I really enjoyed reading the posts by you and Kris. You each have a unique style, and both provided useful information to your readers.
