Paper Snowflakes

It’s bitter cold out today. So instead of my girls going outside to play in the snow, we brought the snow inside, so to speak. While we didn’t actually bring snow inside to play with (though we have before and put it in our freezer), today we made paper snowflakes. Not the same as catching them on your tongue, but still just as fun.

Paper Snowflakes

Since I wasn’t planning on doing a snowflake craft today, I was thrilled when I looked in my seasonal arts and crafts book and discovered a way to make paper snowflakes with coffee filters. I love crafts I can do with items I have around the house already!

Here’s What We Used to Make Our Paper Snowflakes:

  • Coffee filters
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Glitter

Here’s How We Made Our Paper Snowflakes:

1. Fold the coffee filter in half, then in half again and in half a third time so it’s in the shape of a piece of pie.

2. Cut out different shapes around the folded edges of the coffee filter.

Since every snowflake is unique, this is where kids can get creative in how they make their snowflake!

3. Unfold the coffee filter to see how cool the snowflake looks.

4. Drizzle glue where you want glitter to stick to the snowflake.

5. Sprinkle glitter on the snowflake.

6. Let the glue dry so the glitter sticks to the snowflake.

Now you have unique, sparkly paper snowflakes to decorate your warm home on a cold winter’s day! If you’re looking for another way to make snowflakes out of items you probably have around the house already check this out!

You know I have never made snowflakes with Jackson - which is crazy cause I loved to do it as a kid. Thanks for the reminder about this timeless craft! :)
