My girls had a playdate yesterday and my oldest daughter asked me to come up with “a surprise craft.” Since this is a Leap Year, I thought it would be fun if they did some Leap Year activities. So I got out the materials to have them make a Leap Year Frog.

Here’s What You Need to Make a Leap Year Frog:

• Paper plate (the thin kind work best)
• Stapler
• Green and black markers
• Green and red construction paper
• Scissors

Here’s How to Make a Leap Year Frog:

1. Fold the paper plate in half and staple it together in two places.

(You will staple it more when it’s time to staple the frog’s arms and legs to the plate.)

2. Decorate the folded plate as the Leap Year Frog’s face.

(My girls first used black marker to make the Leap Year Frog’s eyes, then colored the rest of the frog’s face with green marker. Then added black spots for fun!)

3. Cut out the frog’s tongue from red construction paper.

4. Cut out the frog’s arms and legs from green construction paper.

5. Staple the Leap Year Frog’s tongue, arms and legs to the paper plate.
