With tomorrow being Thanksgiving here in the United States, I thought it would be fun to throw a challenge out to all of the readers to try and get a turkey on Thanksgiving.
I’m sure that you are thinking that my challenge doesn’t sound all that difficult, as many people will be devouring a turkey at some point tomorrow.
However, I am not referring to the type of turkey that you eat.
Bowling.
Bowling on Thanksgiving?
I thought the same thing at one time. When my wife and I were dating, I learned that her family had a tradition of bowling after Thanksgiving dinner.
In my family, everyone usually prefers to sit around on the couch and sleep so this was certainly new to me. But I loved it. We have since done it with our kids a couple of times and they thought it was really cool as well.
So what about this challenge?
My challenge to all of you is to get out there and give bowling a try this Thanksgiving. Not only can it be a fun family tradition and a source of memories for years to come, you will get a little exercise as well and that is always a good thing.
In the game of bowling, the term turkey refers to when a bowler scores three consecutive strikes. In many bowling alleys, you will be treated to a picture of a turkey on the overhead monitors and you might even win yourself a prize such as free drinks or a free pizza.
If any of you score a turkey at the bowling alley, snap a picture of the moment and send it to me. I’ll compile a post-Thanksgiving bowling recap and give everyone their proper credit for getting a turkey on Thanksgiving!
Hope everyone has a Happy & Healthy Thanksgiving!
