Can You Handle The World’s Hottest Chicken Wings?

Eating Hot Wings

Are you man enough to handle the heat of the world’s hottest wings?

Or are you a baby that orders your wings mild?

I’m a huge fan of spicy food and there is rarely a meal that does not include me pouring hot sauce of some variety all over my food. When I am at a restaurant I usually order their “spicy” dish and ask them to make it extra spicy if possible - yet when the food comes I don’t notice any hint of extra spice.

Given my preference for spicy food, you can understand why I was excited about the story mentioning a new menu offering from Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap in Chicago.

Jake’s has introduced a chicken wing that is coated with one of the world’s hottest peppers - the Red Savina pepper - and customers will be required to sign a waiver indicating that they agree not to sue the restaurant for any injuries. I’ve purchased a few bottles of hot sauce over the years that required you to be over the age of 18 although I have never had to sign an actual waiver, so that is a good sign that one will not be asking for extra spice at Jake’s.

If you’re daring enough to order up some of these wings, you will also receive an alarm bell that can be used to call the waiters. When you ring the bell, your server will bring you sour cream, milk sugar and white bread to help you handle the heat.

Just remember one thing before signing that waiver - what goes in spicy comes out extra spicy!

So who wants to stop by Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap with me?

Man, I am so there. I love hot wings, and so does my wife. If only I weren’t on the West Coast!

I’d have to give Wings N Things in Salt Lake City. Nothing as spicy as that place, but great wings nonetheless.

Good article. I’m glad I just finished lunch, or I’d be craving some wings.

This reminds me of the time on our honeymoon when the waiter at the House of Blues told my husband not to eat the little orange pepper nestled into the center of his jumbalaya. I rolled my eyes andtoldthe waiter, “You know you just challenged him, right?” At the end of the meal I found myself running down some other table’s server begging for a glass of milk for my bright-red, profusely-sweating, brand-new husband.

    Good times. :-D

Haha, I once tried to ate a pepper, forgot which kind it was. It was some kind of rice dish, and I thought, “I wonder if this thing is actually that spicy,” since I normally don’t eat it. I tried it. It wasn’t that bad. Chew a few more times, not so bad. And suddenly all the hotness came attack me. Gosh, that was bad.

But if it’s like a tofu house or curry house, the spicy usually isn’t that spicy. On the other hand, chicken wings can probably be really spicy cuz that’s what they are all about. ;-) I probably wouldn’t try that thing you mentioned…

I’m in, who’s drivin’? In college my advisor was a Chinaman who loved spicy food. He put crushed peppers on his big macs! One afternoon I was fortunate enough to be asked to lunch with he and few other of my professors. He recommended Kun Pao Shrimp -extra spicy- If you want hot, order that!
