Monday Motivation :: Life is Good

Monday MotivationI’m having one of those rare mornings in which everything seems to be perfect. Not to say that I don’t have great mornings much of the time… I do - but I’m sure you’ve had those days in which your mood is both serene yet excited, that no matter what is going on in your life, it all feels good.

OK, maybe it’s the fact that I was off coffee all this last week and I’m finally enjoying my first cup in 7 days. ;)

Yeah, I promised I would get through 775 emails last Monday. But midnight hit, I had gotten through about 700 of them, my nose was dripping everywhere and I had to make a decision: Bed, or Coffee?

Bed won out.

Even though I hated being without my beloved coffee, I was glad I made the decision to take care of myself. Since I worked way too much earlier this month, I’ve been very conscious of ensuring I am getting my family and me time lately.

I have never felt better.

So, back to our Monday Motivation :: what is it, anyway?

Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).

Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site (like Char did today - wish her a happy blogithday while you’re there!).

Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do. I’ve found that the public announcement and accountability is a particularly great motivator, but throw down consequences if you really need a kick in the pants to get stuff done!

I’ll throw in a Step 4 - put something on your list to take care of yourself or spend more time with your loved ones today.

Today, before I go to sleep, I will:

  • Clear out my inbox of 169 emails
  • Walk to school to pick up my kids at least once (hopefully twice)
  • Go to my daughter’s cross country competition
  • Go to the Post Office and mail a package
  • Do three loads of laundry

If I don’t have all of this done by the time I go to bed tonight, I will give Kiva entrepreneurs a fat $250 check tomorrow morning.

So what are you going to get done today?

    1. Yoga class
    2. Posts for two blogs
    3. At least seven artciles for current client
    4. Bradley Method class tonight

Yeah, that’s probably enough, although there are a lot of other things I’d like to get done. Oh, I know:

    5. Create to-do list for the rest of the week.

If I don’t get these things accomplished before bed, I will get up two hours early every day for the rest of the week. (Eep.)

    Okay, today I’m going to:

    1. Apply to at least 2 jobs
    2. Write at least 2 posts for my blog
    3. Exercise

My ‘take care of myself’ to-do is go to the library and pick up more books. :)

And the consequence for not doing these things is coming back to this thread and posting that I didn’t make it! That’s great motivation for me!

I have found myself mentally writing my “comment” in my head on monday morning to this post- cracks me up.

i have not regulary found my way to share it though

My list today was way too long and ambitious. It was a typical and crazy Monday

left to do is prepare for my freelance work strategizing call tomorrow, stack my stuff to take out the door and do the dishes

i don’t have a choice about getting them done and don’t have a dime to give to cause —

if i am in bed by 11 that will be reward enough

I guess I take very different breakfast with others. I would like to have the belows done by today.

    1. Take a good breakfast (full cream milk with bread, and plus a piece of mooncake)
    2. Clean my room as it is so messy now
    3. Plan for other freelance jobs
    4. Watch TV with my family
    5. Eat fruits (more than 3 types today)

Hope that all these will be done successfully before today ends! :)

I just wanted to come back and say that I did it! I accomplished everything on my list and then some. It really helped to write it down. Thanks for helping with motivation. :)

Wendy, thanks for the mention of my post! My list for Monday was quite short - get through my all day training session without losing my mind. I’m not sure yet if I was successful. :)
