I upgraded to Wordpress 2.2 this weekend with the help of Steve Johnson. We’re still trying to get the right permalinks back because they were originally set up with a plugin with my crappy old hosting company. But if you experience any other weirdness, please drop me a line to let us know! :)

So why would you want to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress?

The main reason (besides ongoing security improvements) I wanted to upgrade was because I’ve been getting used to using the really great text editor on my other blogs:

WordPress 2.2 Upgrade

I was feeling spoiled by being able to get to the post code easily and having the ability to create SEO-friendly subheadings on the fly. Plus, there’s now those nifty tools to clean up the code when you copy and paste from Outlook or Word (actually that happened in version 2.1, but I was still running 2.02).

I’m an upgradeoholic, but I’ve put the upgrade on hold for a week now. I can’t fight it anymore. After reading this post and several others I think it’s safe to upgrade.

Well I’ve done it too now - Upgraded to 2.2 just now. Except from Widgets being activated as a default and it even remembered my old widgets settings, even though I removed them all. So my blog had the widgets up and the customised sidebar. That didn’t look pretty, except from that nothing to report. I haven’t noticed any performance improvements, the important thing everything is running great ;)

Thanks for the plug, Wendy. :)

The 2.2 upgrade is pretty important because it does contain some security fixes, as Amanda said.

I’m waiting for Fantastico to let me upgrade it. And those extra code thingers are in the one I have, but I have to do alt+v to open them in IE.

I love the fact that the preview opens up in a new screen…among other things. Greatness.

OK… OK! I’m going to go do it right now. (Yes, I’ve been procrastinating too.) In the past I’ve been really slack at keeping up with the upgrades, but I’ve made a promise to myself now to stay current.
