One of the new readers around here contacted me over the weekend and asked my opinion on what stocks I would buy today that would go up this week. I’m not much into the stock market, so I threw out the only company I would buy stock from if I had to buy right now: Adobe. (Frankly wishing I actually had bought their stock before they bought Macromedia)!
Little did I realize that I had entered myself into a stock market smackdown against some serious traders in the industry! Thankfully all I have to lose is my reputation as a stock broker (in other words, “nothing“).
But I will be watching my competition closely (only because I am rather competitive by nature!):
Jim Kingsland - picked L J International (JADE) and Dendreon (DNDN).
Investoid - picked Edwards A G (AGE) and Red Hat (RHT).
Frugal Trader - picked Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Google (GOOG).
Derrich - picked Braskem (BAK) and Yahoo (YHOO).
Looks like Blain at Stock Trading 101 does this on a regular basis. So if you are interested in the stock market, maybe you can throw your hat into the ring next week!

Ah, the nostalgia… my mind took me back to those fun days in the lat 90’s when I had way more money than I’m going to admit to right now invested in high tech stocks. and the darn things kept going up and up and up. until one day anyway.
I used to joke that I could put a slot machine lever on the side of my monitor.
And by the way, they’re wrong. When it’s in your liquid brokerage account holdings, it ain’t “paper money”.
Sure had a lot of fun with that. And now back to our regularly scheduled millennium.
Have an awesome day!
Dan
lol, excellent post Wendy! I am rooting for you!! Will be posting the first update here in a little bit, have a great night!
I was a little put off on the idea of that thing. But I think its a really cool thing to see how well your site does.
I used to daytrade, but got out of it because it got to be too stressful. But I still like to keep up with the stock market.
