Whenever I have a large group of people for dinner, there’s always a little bit of awkwardness confusion over where everyone should sit. That’s why I like to use place cards whenever I can. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not formal or anything. In fact, I always have my kids make them. Not only does it give them something to do while we’re busy getting dinner ready, it adds a personal touch to the table.
So of course I had my girls make Thanksgiving place cards! You can either have them fold index cards and draw on them, or you can do what I did. I chose this year to buy a Thanksgiving place card making kit from the Oriental Trading Company. While I don’t normally invest in place cards, these were cheaper than buying index cards!
The place card kit included three different ways to deocorate the place card: girl pilgrim, boy pilgrim and turkey. Clearly you can have some fun with who gets to be the turkey at the table!
These place cards are a nice finishing touch for our handmade placemats and handprint turkey plates!
