Christmas Gift Idea for Kids Who Love to Write

I love to write and am thrilled that my daughters share my passion for words. They are constantly writing stories, songs and poems. My girls are also very artistic and love to illustrate their stories. Me, not so much. So when my oldest daughter asked one day, “Mom, how can I get my stories published?” I knew I had to find a way to make that happen.

I did some research and found just the thing! It’s called IlluStory. This award-winning writing kit gives children of all ages the opportunity to have their words and illustrations turned into a printed hardcover book.

When I gave IlluStory to my girls they were thrilled! They immediately began to brainstorm what their story would be about. Since it’s Christmas season and we just had four deer run through our backyard, they decided to write a book entitled Rudolph the White Tailed Deer.

IlluStory comes with instructions on how to create a book online and with story pages if your children prefer to write and illustrate their book by hand. My girls opted to create their book by hand and traced their illustrations with pencil before coloring them with the markers provided. They also had the opportunity to provide information about themselves for the author page and to dedicate the book. They chose to dedicate their book to their baby sister. So sweet.

After your child is done writing and illustrating, you send their work to the address provided and their hardcover book arrives about three weeks later. IlluStory is a great way to not only encourage your child’s love of writing and illustrating, but to preserve their work for a lifetime.

We’re not the only ones who think IlluStory is fantastic! This writing kit has received the following awards:

Creative Child Toy of the Year Award

Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award

Parents’ Choice Classic Award

Family Life’s Best Learning Toy Award

Dr. Toy Best Toy Award

So if you have any aspiring authors and illustrators in your family, I highly recommend you give them what all writers want…their book in hardcover! :)
