December is such a crazy month - especially for those of us who run a home business. We can plan as much as possible for time off during the holidays, but ultimately, the work still needs to get done. So the only way to make that happen is to crunch more work in before the holidays hit.
Hopefully you’ll be giving some thought today to plan ahead for the whole month. That’s one of the things on my to-do list today - putting a realistic plan in place to make sure things continue to run smoothly for the month while also planning to take most of the week off between Christmas and New Years. Of course, if you are Jewish, Hanukkah starts tomorrow, so you’re probably way ahead of me with your plans.
Anyway, what is Monday Motivation to begin with?
Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).
Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.
Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do. I’ve found that the public announcement and accountability is a particularly great motivator, but throw down consequences if you really need a kick in the pants to get stuff done!
Here’s what I will do today:
- Write 2 more blog posts
- Write my December action plan
- Clean my desk
- Clean my office room
- Call Doctor to reschedule appointment
- Clean out my inbox of 310 emails (god I hate that one!)
Leverage :: If I don’t have all of this done by the time I go to bed tonight, I will cut up firewood this weekend instead of my husband doing it (blech!). Last week I didn’t get all of my stuff done - but it was because I really didn’t throw down any leverage at all (it was my birthday… but stilll!). I know myself well enough to know I shouldn’t have been so easy on myself!
So what are you going to get done today?!

Oh..I like your December action plan! I think I’ll follow in your footsteps and start with this week’s action plan. I get a little worried when I sit down some Mondays, like today and I’m having to reboot my brain and figure out where to begin again!
Thanks Wendy and good luck!
Good idea for the December action plan. I try to make lists, but everything always takes longer than anticipated!
Today, I will:
- put up the Christmas tree and decorations
- Figure out the PayPal glitch on my new wahm business directory
- Write 3 articles to promote my blog
If I don´t get those done . . . . I can´t go into town alone, without children tomorrow.:D
I’m getting there, but I still have plenty on my list for today:
Charitable Thoughts post
Something Good post (this is a big one)
Contact friends around the country for sources
One “Winter Walks” article
Coordinate phone meeting
Birth class tonight
Great idea!
My list for today.
1. Call the 5 referrals I got over the weekend.
2. Write 1 blog post.
3. Pack 2 more boxes before going to bed.
Punishment is continuing to go to my job if I don’t get my business up and running.
Happy Birthday Wendy- A great Sagitarian- I have a soft spot for Sags, as my Mum’s birthday day was 27th Nov.

Now for Monday motivation on a Wednesday here in Australia.
I am inspired by you December action Plan that I have been thinking about all week, but it is not on paper.
I will commit to by Friday to complete the following:
1. Write 4 Blog Posts
2. Complete the to do lists- dump everything from my head in Zen to Done fashion, so I can make my December action plan
3. meditate each day
4. Get blogworld pictures up on flickr
5. Start to write to all the wonderful bloggers I met at BlogWorld.
6. Clean up my Desk area .
7. Work out how I can use gmail for all my mail successfully
If I don’t get this done I will report back here. I won’t beat myself up as i have successfully done that by being ill and out of action since returning from USA.
