At the center of this site is an experienced work at home parent. I’ve always wished I had the resources to cover more about home business - some favorite topics include crafting and art businesses, eBay selling, freelance service promotion, and offline business ideas such as home day care and dog walking (ALL of which I have either done or thought about doing at one point in time).

Recently, I was approached by Home Based Business Magazine to do a paid review of their free online magazine dedicated to helping people start and run all kinds of home businesses. I quite honestly thought to myself, “You want to PAY me to write about something that I would love to share with my readers, anyway?! OK!!!” Plus, now I don’t have to write about it!!! ;)

Home Based Business Magazine is kind of like a blog in a email/pdf magazine format. They offer a free monthly issue with a very wide range of topics - including small business legal and tax issues, entry-level website building, and even how to leverage social networks such as MySpace for marketing opportunities.

So how do they publish their magazine for free? By including advertising, of course. I’ll be the first to admit that home business opportunities are one of the least trusted industries on the planet. The good news is that the publishers of this magazine are promoting good advertisers as well as good content - I have promoted at least one of their advertisers myself in the past.

For now it looks as though they deliver their content monthly via email in a PDF - I’d love to see the magazine evolve to be available via RSS in the future, or perhaps broken down into email newsletter that drive traffic to article archives on their site. For now, it’s still a great resource for anyone interested in starting a home business - and the advice comes free (can’t beat that!!).

Free resources are always good - especially if they have quality content. I could certainly use the small business legal and tax tips.

Thanks for the review, Wendy. I’ve been looking for something like this because I’m relatively new to Home Based Business, so I have a lot to learn.

I’m so thankful to people who are willing to share their stories, and the things they’ve learned, with those who are just starting out. And to offer that information for free, how great is that?!

I look forward to getting my first issue. Thanks again!
