It occurred to me today that perhaps I should’ve kicked off the launch of this new Seasonal Kids’ Activities blog with a post like this. You know, start with the basics. Well, hindsight is always 20/20. That said, there’s no time like the present. Hmmm. Let’s see how many clichés I can put in one post! Anyway, when the kids are bored and you’re looking for things to occupy them, this post will make sure you’re good to go. See, there’s one more.
With kids, it’s always best to be prepared. So I stock up on arts and craft supplies so I’m ready when my kids inevitably say, “There’s nothing to do.” Ah, but there is. I promptly respond, “Go get something out of the craft closet.”
Here’s what I keep on hand to keep their little hands busy:
Markers
Crayons
Colored Pencils
Drawing Paper
Construction Paper
Tissue Paper
Kid Scissors
Glue
Glitter Glue Pens
Washable Paint
Paint Brushes
Smocks
Vinyl Tablecloth
Fabric Markers
Modeling Clay
Pipe Cleaners
Popsicle Sticks
Ribbon
Felt
Pom Poms
Bead Kit
Stickers
Frankly, I often just put out a combination of these supplies and they use their own creativity and imagination to make something. However, I also get asked a lot “Mommy, will you give us a surprise craft to do?” When that happens, I look in my handy dandy notebook. Sorry, Blues Clues on the brain. I look in my Jumbo Book of Easy Crafts. I highly recommend this book because it has tons of great simple crafts to do!
So, may the force fun be with you.
Six clichés, seven if you include the Blues Clues reference!
