The Risks and Rewards of Making Big Business Changes

It’s been two and a half weeks since we launched the new eMoms at Home blog channels. It was a ton of work, and things didn’t go perfectly, but now, I’m really just in awe.

Many of you know I had a classic entrepreneurial seizure when faced with how to grow this site, and I really had to face some of my own fears - fear of letting go of control, fear of having people depend on me for income, and fear that I was risking the livelihood of this site as a whole as I radically shifted gears from a one-woman show to a mini “blog network”.

I’ve gotten emails from my new authors thanking me for being a part of this project - and I feel like the shoe is on the wrong foot. I should be the one thanking them. I feel both humbled and honored that these amazing people are working with me, helping to build this site together, that they are putting their own hearts and souls into a project that has been both a personal and even spiritual journey for me as a woman, mom, entrepreneur and teacher.

“Honored” and “humbled” actually don’t even begin to describe my deep appreciation and gratitude to be a part of this with them.

It’s so funny to look back now and think that I was afraid of this!

So why am I telling you all of this? For the simple reason that I hope you have the same challenges at some point down the road, because that means that your business is growing.

And when your business starts growing, you may have the same fears that I did.

And as your business grows, you’ll have to grow to accommodate it.

You’ll have to get outside of your comfort zone, rely on the advice and support of others, you’ll have to stay focused when all you want is a break, and you’ll have to risk a lot in order to get to the next level.

And when you do, remember me telling you that it is worth it - emotionally, spiritually, and financially worth it. And please jump off that cliff in your entrepreneurial seizure believing in yourself on the way down, because if I can do this, you can do this.

I can’t believe it’s only been two and a half weeks! It’s been a pretty fun project, and Tamara and I are so glad to be involved. I’m really happy that you feel like things have been successful so far, as can be hard to tell on our end. I mean, we feel good about it, but you’re the guru, you know?

Here’s to even more success! :-D

Congrats again! I always tell people if they have an inkling to ‘go for it.’ Many an idea never comes to fruition because people are afraid to try.

BTW, I hope you get some $$ from GoDaddy because I have been using your discount code for quite a few domain purchases lately. :-) Apparently, it’s one of the best codes out there!

Wendy, I’m so happy that you are growing because you provide inspiration and motivation for the rest of us. I wish you all the best with your goals, although I think you’re doin’ just fine already! :)

Well it’s wonderful to be a part of your big project. The best thing about it is the synergy of it all; our success is largely driven and dependent on each other’s success. Which is such a great place to be in!

I’ve always believed in encouraging others to GO for it (just like you do Wendy) because it’s the best karma, if it helps others, hopefully it may help you back! :)

Thank you for the reminder, getting out of your comfort zone- thanks for showing the way and being such an inspiration.. In some ways with blogging when like you have share your fears as well as the successes, that is getting out of your comfort zone. I love that you share and spur others on to achieve maybe even greatness.

As the others have mentioned, I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this and appreciate everything that you have done.

Your words about facing your fears and taking on the challenges are very fitting, as I know I had my own fears and challenges as a part of your new site. You’ve set a great path for others to follow and I am honored to now be a part of that.
